A spotted hyena.
This is the best picture
I took of a hyena. It
actually looks cute here!
But don't be fooled as
their teeth can shear
through bone and thick
hides easily.

Check out the ears on
this hyena! Hyenas have
been portrayed as
cowardly scavengers, but
they are actually highly
efficient predators. In
fact, many kills previously
attributed to lions are
actually hyena kills
stolen by lions!

Females rule the hyena
pack. Why is this and
what male physical
characteristic does it
possess? Better read
up on "Animal Facts!"

A Masai giraffe.
Their necks are the
longest in the animal
kingdom, and they only
have seven bones
(the same as humans).

Yum! Do you know
how to tell the
difference between a
Rothschild's, Reticulated,
and this Masai giraffe?
Better check "Animal Facts."

This is my favorite
giraffe picture. What
a beautiful creature!

A herd of African buffalo
as far as the eye can
see. They can form herds
of thousands. Both sexes
have distinctive
thick, up curving horns.

This African buffalo has
a yellow-billed oxpecker
on its back. These birds
eat ticks off animals,
and they also rip off
mouthfuls of hair
to build their nests
with! Ouch!

A male ostrich.
I love this picture
because behind the
ostrich is a warthog,
and a Masai boma
(village) can be
seen in the far
distance. Very cool!

A female ostrich.
They are the world’s
tallest living bird
and contrary to popular
belief, ostriches don't
bury their heads in the sand.
