GAME DRIVE #1 PICTURE LINK - SECOND SET
Our first game drive was magical. We were so excited and ready for anything, we couldn't wait to go! It
was an afternoon game drive, and the goal was to just go out and see whatever came along. Our first
wildlife spotting were of zebras. They are pretty shy and tend to turn
away quickly, so most of the pictures I have of them is of their rear ends!
Jackson took us next to an elephant herd that was on the move. He drove us to various places among the
herd and turned the engine off so we could just sit and observe. They are such gentle creatures,
swishing in the grass as they walked by, but they are so huge! It gives me chills just writing about it as
it was very enchanting! I'll never forget that swishing sound.
After about 30 minutes here, Jackson got a call on the CB that a lion pride had been spotted not far from
where we were at. We took off and soon found a pride of four females, two males, and two cubs. We
sat here for another 30 minutes watching the cubs play while the adults laid around. The cubs
were so cute and fun to watch!
Jackson said he had one more place to take us, so we drove about a mile or so from this pride. We came
upon a lioness who was eating an impala! He said that this lioness hadn't caught this impala herself, but
she had most likely stolen it from a hyena. Standing near her
were three jackals waiting for their turn to eat. Behind the jackals was a flock of vultures waiting out
their turn. In the wild kingdom, there's a pecking order!
As it turns out, this was the only kill we would see on all eight game drives that we were to take! Jackson
said it was really rare to see kills, but I secretly didn't believe him. He was right. Darn.
