MWEYA SAFARI LODGE PICTURE LINK
We love this place -- it wins hands down as our most favorite place to stay on our whole trip! Awesome
rooms, service, hospitality, and food. I could spend a week here just watching the hippos, crocodiles, mongoose, and warthogs. I
would love to go back some day!
Mweya Safari Lodge is
situated on a raised peninsula in Queen Elizabeth Park. It has simply stunning views of Lake Edward and
the Kazinga Channel.
The lodge recently underwent a $4 million refurbishment, and it's top
notch but extremely affordable. It's no wonder it's considered to be Uganda's most highly rated hotel!
Mweya Safari Lodge is a full facility lodge with thirty-eight double rooms, six single rooms,
two suites, and a Luxurious Royal Cottage, where Queen Elizabeth II stayed in 1954. All the rooms have
bathrooms and private balconies which overlook either the Kazinga Channel or Lake Edward. On both sides of the bed are nets
that are drawn at night and sprayed to keep the bugs out (mostly gnats). The property
is thoroughly sprayed which keeps out most insects.
The swimming pool has a view like no other in the world! The elegant, air-conditioned Kazinga Restaurant offers international cuisine, an excellent a la carte menu, a buffet dinner,
and often a barbecue on Saturday nights. The food was EXCELLENT here and very affordable! There is also
a poolside bar, the Tembo Safari Bar, a souvenir shop (I bought a lot here!), a conference room, and
a boardroom which has a satellite tv in it.
