FACEBOOK: Settings This page is where you set up all your Facebook settings. The SETTINGS button on the TOP MENU BAR has a pull-down menu with three selections. Make sure after changing any settings that you hit the "Save Changes" button at the bottom of your page to save your changes! (1) The My Account page has five tabs – “Settings”, “Networks”, “Notifications”, “Mobile”, and “Language”. These are your settings for your account. “Notifications” is where you change what emails you're getting (I personally left them all on). I personally didn't change many settings in My Account, but take a look at them to tweak for your personal preferences. (2) The Privacy Settings page has four tabs. On this page you'll also find “Block People”. If you block someone, they will not be able to find you in a Facebook search, see your profile, or interact with you through Facebook channels. a. “Profile”. Be aware that there are two tabs on this page: Basic and Contact Information. This page controls who can see your profile and personal information. I personally changed all these settings to “Only Friends”. Please note that if friends can't post on your WALL, make sure the box next to "Wall Posts" is checked. b. “Search”. This page controls who can search for you, and how you can be contacted. I personally tweaked this page slightly. c. “News Feed and Wall”. Be aware that there are two tabs on this page: Actions within Facebook and Social Ads. This page controls what stories about you get published to your profile and to your friend's News Feeds. I personally tweated this one a lot! d. “Applications” -- Be aware that there are two tabs on this page: Overview and Settings. This page controls what information is available to applications you use on Facebook. (3) The Applications Settings adjust your settings for specific applications. |
